Rick Moody
Novelist
An American novelist and short story writer, he is best known for Garden State and The Ice Storm. The former work received a Pushcart Press Editors' Book Award and the latter work was adapted into a film.
He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia University.
His memoir, The Black Veil, won the PEN/Martha Albrand Award.
Born in New York City, he grew up mostly in Connecticut. With his wife, he had one daughter.
His 1994 novel, The Ice Storm, was made into a film starring Tobey Maguire.
