Older brother of country music superstar Blake Shelton who perished in a car accident in Ada, Pontotoc County in Oklahoma at the age of 24.
Blake was 14 years old at the time of his older brother's passing.
Blake tweeted on the 25th anniversary of his passing, "Wow... 25 years ago today we lost my brother Richie Shelton. He's still my hero going strong. Wish everyone could've known him."
Born to Dorothy Shackleford and Ronnie Musgrove, he was the big brother of Blake and Endy Shelton.
He is the inspiration behind Miranda Lambert's song "Over You," which was co-written by Blake and Miranda.
