Panamanian-born American painter and photographer who became known best for his appropriation photography.
He was drawn to art from a young age and after he attended college he immediately moved to New York City to pursue art as a career.
His most their series of re-photographs was Cowboys, in which he appropriated images of men from Marlboro advertisements.
He was born in the then U.S. Panama Canal Zone to parents who worked for the U.S. government. They moved back to the states shortly thereafter.
His early fascination with Jackson Pollock inspired him to pursue art.
