This chef's Michelin star-rated Copenhagen restaurant, Noma, won Restaurant Magazine's Best Restaurant in the World Award in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2014.
At the beginning of his culinary career, he worked at the their Copenhagen restaurants Pierre André and Kong Hans Kaelder and at the Spanish restaurant El Bulli.
He is credited with inventing the New Nordic Cuisine subcategory of New Danish Cuisine.
He grew up in Denmark and Macedonia as the son of a Danish mother and a Macedonian-Albanian father.
In 2001, he trained with world their chef Thomas Keller (the owner of California's French Laundry restaurant).
