Musician and composer who worked for the National Ballet of Zaire.
He trained in classical music at a Catholic seminary, having initially wanted to be a priest.
He was invited to come to the United States by the Rockefeller Foundation in 1979. He later settled in Paris, after finding success with Island Records.
He grew up with family in DR Congo.
He was a vocalist on Stewart Copeland's 1985 album The Rhythmatist.
