Raghuram Rajan
Economist
In 2013, this prominent economist took office as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, having previously held executive adviser positions with both the International Monetary Fund and the Indian Ministry of Finance.
After earning an undergraduate electrical engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology and a business administration diploma from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, he completed a business management doctorate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He won the American Finance Association's Fischer Black Prize and the Deutsche Bank's Prize for Financial Economics, among other honors.
His marriage to law professor Radhika Puri resulted in two children.
In 2012, Rajan and economist and New York Times journalist Paul Krugman expressed opposing views on how to improve European and American economies.
