Politician who rose to fame as England's Secretary of State for the Home Department, an office she assumed in July 2019. A member of the Conservative Party, she previously served as the Secretary of State for International Development in 2016 and 2017.
She graduated from Keele University with an economics degree. She later earned her postgraduate degree in British government and politics from the University of Essex.
She has served as a Member of Parliament (MP) on behalf of Witham in the British parliament. She also served as the Minister of State for Employment in 2015 and 2016.
She married her husband Alex Sawyer in 2004. She has one son with him.
She received the Jewels of Gujarat honor from Narendra Modi in January 2015.
