PJ Patterson
World Leader
After serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Defense, and Deputy Prime Minister of Jamaica, this People's National Party Leader took office as sixth Prime Minister of Jamaica.
After graduating from the University of the West Indies, he received a law degree from the London School of Economics. He was first elected to the Jamaican Parliament in the late 1960s.
During his time as Prime Minister, he lessened Jamaica's dependence upon foreign aid and significantly modernized the country's infrastructure.
Born Percival Noel James Patterson, he spent his childhood in Hanover and Kingston, Jamaica.
He was succeeded in office by Jamaica's first female Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller.
