Politician who represented Texas in the Senate from 1985 to 2002 and in the House from 1979 to 1985. He notably switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican one in 1983.
He was a professor of economics at Texas A&M from 1967 to 1978.
He switched part affiliations after he was thrown off the House Budget Committee for supporting Reagan's tax cuts.
His father, Kenneth Gramm, died when he was fourteen, so his mother raised him on her own.
He was a senior economic adviser to John McCain's presidential campaign.
