Peter Marcuse
Lawyer
German-born attorney and urban development expert. His publications include Of States and Cities: The Partitioning of Urban Space and Cities for People Not for Profit: Critical Urban Theory.
He graduated from both the Yale University Law School and the University of California, Berkeley's urban planning Ph.D. program.
He taught urban planning courses at both the University of California-Los Angeles and Columbia University.
His father, Herbert Marcuse, was a respected philosopher. Peter Marcuse's marriage to Frances Bessler produced three children: Andrew Marcuse, fiction writer Irene Marcuse, and university professor Harold Marcuse.
He and Luxembourg-born architect Leon Krier were both experts in the field of urban planning.
