Known for his paintings, sculptures, and art installations. The bright pink pyramid installation "The Tomb" was damaged in 1981, but had been thoroughly documented in black-and-white photographs.
He received his formal art education from the Pratt Institute, the Art Students League, and the Cooper Union School of the Arts.
His their series "Technological Reliquaries" was composed of wax sculptures of human body parts.
He had two siblings and was born into a family of German and Irish descent. Sadly, he died from complications of AIDS at age fifty-four.
He was a friend of fellow New York-based artist Eva Hesse.
