Painter
American painter and writer who won the Lenin Peace Prize in 1967 and was elected into the National Academy of Design as an Associate member in 1948.
He studied composition design at the Arts Student League in 1900 and entered New York School of Art in 1902.
He was also a jazz age humorist and created whimsical drawings that were featured in publications such as Vanity Fair and Harper's Weekly.
He grew up with his family in and around New York City.
He was part of artist Robert Henri's class at New York School of Art in 1902.
