Though he also performed as a stand-up comedian and contributed to several popular radio and television programs, this English entertainer is best known for writing popular plays such as Closer and After Miss Julie and for penning the screenplays for Fifty Shades of Grey and Notes on a Scandal.
He studied at Wadham College, Oxford.
His screenplay for the 2006 film Notes on a Scandal received an Oscar nomination.
He and his wife, English television actress Debra Gillett, welcomed their first two children, Albie and Fred, in 2001 and 2003, respectively.
The 2004 cinematic adaptation of his popular play Closer featured actors Jude Law,
