Russian biathlete and two-time Olympic gold medalist under the name Olga Pyleva.
She won her first International Competition gold medal at the 2000 World Championships.
She won silver at the 2006 Olympics but her medal was taken away after she tested positive for the stimulant carphedon.
She married her coach and former Olympic Champion Valery Medvedtsev in 2006.
She competed in the 2006 Olympics where speed skater Apolo Anton Ohno won a gold medal.
