Russian biathlete who won a gold medal and two silvers at the 1988 Olympics, as well as a silver at the 1992 Olympics.
He won his first gold medal in International Competition at the 1986 World Championships.
He won a total of four Olympic medals, three of which were in 1988.
He married Olga Medvedtsev in 1995.
He won gold in the 1988 Olympics, where skier Matti Nykanen won three gold medals.
