Russian-born hockey player who began playing for the National Hockey League's Toronto Maple Leafs team in 2008. He and the Maple Leafs won several team awards in 2006, including the Tampere Cup, Karjala Cup, Channel One Cup, and the Ceska Pojist'ovna Cup.
His Russian team won the Russian Super League Championship in 2007, at which point he was named MVP of the Super League.
He signed a 2.8 million per year renewal contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2012.
He and his wife became parents to two children: Alexei (born 2009) and Daniella (born 2012).
He was the second Russian (after Alexander Mogilny) to score thirty goals in a season of play with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
