American singer who has embraced a style that features elements of blues, funk, and soul. She released her debut self-titled album in 1981, followed by Fairy Tales in 1983.
She recorded her first single at age five with Hawaiian singer Don Ho and had many notable performances at a very young age due to her musician family upbringing.
Her 2000 song, "Like a Feather," was featured in a Tommy Hilfiger television campaign ad.
Her father is Don Costa who was a popular producer and musician. She married Australian songwriter Justin Stanley, with whom she had a daughter named Sugar.
She sang with Frank Sinatra at the White House when she was nine years old.
