Songwriter, producer, and arranger known for crafting hits for the likes of Dolly Parton and Michael Jackson. He was a member of the group Brooklyn Dreams.
He played bass in his first band, Silent Souls, in the 1960's.
He won the New Music Weekly Adult Contemporary Song of the Year award for the track It's Her Wedding Day from his third solo record, released in 2009.
He married Grammy-winning soul singer Donna Summer.
He wrote the hit #1 country song Starting Over Again, which was eventually sung by country star Dolly Parton.
