Jazz flautist their for critically-acclaimed releases like 2008's "Xenogenesis Suite" and 2013's "Aquarius." She is also the former President of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians and is the first female president in the organization's history.
She lived in Syracuse, New York until she was eight.
She was named the Rising Star among flautists by Down Beat Magazine six consecutive years from 2004 to 2009.
She got married in July 2011. She has two brothers.
She collaborated with drummer Hamid Drake frequently during the mid-to-late '90s.
