Natsume Soseki
Poet
A Japanese novelist, poet and scholar, he wrote I Am a Cat and Kokoro. He is widely considered one of the greatest Japanese writers in history.
Born when his mother was forty years old and already had five children, he was raised for a time by an adoptive family (eventually, he was returned to his birth parents).
He taught English literature at Tokyo Imperial University.
He was born in Tokyo, Japan. In 1895, he married Nakane Kyoko.
He was a contemporary of fellow Japanese author, Eiji Yoshikawa.
