Awarded the Order of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas, Lithuanian Muzes, and declared the National Artist of Lithuania.
She came in first at Estonia's Tallinn Piano Competition while studying at Moscow's Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
She was trapped under the tyranny of the Soviet regime and only permitted to travel within the Communist Bloc. She made the most of it and performed with many of the orchestras and ensembles around the Bloc.
She was born into a family of musicians and debuted professionally when she was only seven.
She relocated to Paris in 1991 around the time that Kazimira Prunskiene was serving as Lithuania's first female prime minister.
