Ridley Scott-directed crime thriller based on John Pearson's 1995 book Painfully Rich: The Outrageous Fortunes and Misfortunes of the Heirs of J Paul Getty. The film depicts the story of the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III and his billionaire grandfather Jean Paul Getty's refusal to pay the ransom despite begging from Getty III's mother.

Trivia

The Golden Globe nominated film replaced Kevin Spacey in the role of the eldest Getty amid sexual assault allegations. Spacey's replacement Christopher Plummer would receive a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
