Nicknamed "The Kosher Butcher" due to his Jewish heritage, he was the WBA Light Heavyweight Champion from September, 1978 to April, 1979.
He turned professional in 1976 and won 22 consecutive fights, which was illegal due to him not being the legal age to enter professional boxing.
He was inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame.
His mother was Jewish and his father was Italian.
He and Bobby Czyz are two of New Jersey's most their boxers.
