Sprinter who won two gold medals at the 1964 Olympics, in the 400 meter sprint, and the 4x400 meter relay.
He attended the University of Southern California on an athletic scholarship.
He was posthumously inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 2003.
He was born in Hollywood, California, and raised in Ventura, California.
He was teammates with Ulis Williams on the gold medal winning relay team.
