Painter
Painter and composer who contributed to the symbolism and art nouveau movements. He was one of the foremost representatives of the fin de siècle epoch and pioneered abstract art in Europe.
He studied piano and composition at the Warsaw Conservatory and took classes in drawing at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts.
He composed over 250 pieces of music and created about 300 paintings during his brief career.
He was the eldest of nine children. He married Sofija Konstantinas in 1909.
He and Kazys Simonis were fellow Lithuanian artists.
