Michael McFaul
Political Scientist
American scholar and professor of political science who was the United States Ambassador to Russia from 2012-14. He was previously the Special Assistant to the President at the U.S. National Security Council during the administration of Barack Obama.
He received his bachelor's degree in international relations and Slavic languages from Stanford University in 1986.
He's the author of numerous books including 2018's From Cold War to Hot Peace: An American Ambassador in Putin's Russia.
He married his wife Donna Norton in 1993. They have two sons named Cole and Luke. His father was a musician and music teacher.
He once advised President George W. Bush on how to deal with Vladimir Putin.
