Prominent fixture of the Australian music industry who was known for being the founder of the record company Mushroom Records.
He founded the short-lived music magazine Daily Planet in 1970.
His Mushroom Records label signed many of Australia's most important rock bands, including MacKenzie Theory, Madder Lake, and The Dingoes.
His daughter is singer Kate Alexa.
He signed the popular band Split Enz in the 1980s, which was led by guitarist Neil Finn.
