Novelist
An American novelist of the early Twenty-First Century, he is best known for The Remains of River Names and Shoot the Buffalo. Both works take place in the Pacific Northwest.
He joined the U.S. Army Reserve and took part in the Gulf War.
His novel, Shoot the Buffalo, won a 2006 American Book Award and was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award.
He was born in Seattle, and he grew up in Washington's Snoqualmie Valley. His parents grew and sold marijuana.
He and Minoru Yamasaki were both born in Seattle, Washington.
