American defender who was named MLS Defender of the Year in 2012 as a member of Sporting Kansas City. He helped lead Sporting Kansas City to a Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in 2012 and an MLS Cup in 2013.
He played college soccer at Notre Dame from 2005 to 2008.
He helped the US national team win a CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2013.
He was born to Greg and Diane Besler.
He joined midfielder Landon Donovan on the United States national team in 2013.
