Famous for creating such successful manga as Saint Seiya and Ring ni Kakero, this Japanese artist also penned song lyrics for the soundtracks of the anime programs based on his manga.
His debut manga, Otoko Raku, secured him an artist's assistant position. He produced his first professional manga, Sukeban Arashi, in the 1970s.
He created promotional images for the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans.
He was born and raised in the Chūō ward of Tokyo, Japan.
He studied and applied to his work many of the techniques of the their manga artist Osamu Tezuka.
