Longtime co-manager of the Heavenly Recordings record label with partner Jeff Barrett from 1993 until 2009.
He had his own band with his brother in the late 1980s. He wrote a book, Fender: The Golden Age 1946-1970, to which his brother supplied photographs.
He was a respected documentary filmmaker, with What Have You Done Today, Mervyn Day? from 2005 and This Is Tomorrow from 2007 garnering critical acclaim.
He married the singer
His record label launched the career of Sean Moore and the rest of the Main Street Preachers.
