Marie-Claire Blais

A Canadian author of plays, poetry, short fiction, and nearly two dozen novels, she is best known for her debut novel, La Belle Bête. Her works often contain pointed social commentary.
After attending a convent school, she continued her education at Quebec's Universite Laval.
She was a recipient of both the Prix France-Canada and the Governor General's Literary Award.
She spent many decades with her partner Mary Meigs.
She and Ginette Reno were both natives of Quebec.
