Maria Aitken

English theatre director, actress, and writer whose Tony Award-winning play The 39 Steps played on Broadway for three years.
She graduated from St. Anne's College in Oxford with an M.A. in English Literature.
She performed with the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company and was nominated for a BAFTA award for her role in the film A Fish Called Wanda.
She married novelist Patrick McGrath in 1991 and had a son Jack from a previous marriage.
She was the mother of actor Jack Davenport.
