Anthropologist whose reports about the attitudes towards sex in South Pacific and Southeast Asian culture amply informed the 1960s sexual revolution. Despite being a religious woman, she gained controversy for applying notions of human sexuality with western religion.
She separated from Edward Sapir because of his narrow views on gender roles.
In 1959 she released the album An Interview With Margaret Mead, which covered the topics of morals and anthropology.
She married third husband
She was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Jimmy Carter.
