English anthropologist who developed influential theories about human reasoning and wrote Steps to an Ecology of Mind and Mind and Nature. He helped put systems theory/cybernetics into the realm of social/behavioral sciences.
He was an anthropologist who studied the natives of New Guinea.

His first wife was the renowned anthropologist Maragaret Mead.
