She gained recognition after being named the 1981 Young Musician of the Year by the Greater London Arts Association.
She had a successful teaching career with positions at Royal Northern College of Music, Trinity Laban Conservatoire, and Birmingham Conservatoire.
She had a son named Samuel who lived with her in London.
She was part of the 1988 film Testimony: The Story of Shostakovich starring Ben Kingsley.
