Nicknamed "Gony", he was one of the leading wicket-takers in IPL, and represented India in the Tri-Nation Series in Bangladesh.
He made his Ranji Trophy debut with Punjab in the 2007-08 season.
He became the first player ever to bowl three maiden overs in a top-level Twenty20 match in 2012.
