She started singing in church when she was five years old and performed in any place she could find, from parking lots to bowling alleys, and released her first gospel album at nine years old.
She has provided songs for movie soundtracks including A Walk On The Moon, Space Cowboys, and Election.
Her parents are Betty and Dan Barnett; her mother was very involved early on in her career, setting up performances and getting her spots on radio shows.
She was part of a summer theatre cast at Dollywood and shared the stage with Dolly Parton.
