Maikel Van Der Vleuten
Equestrian
Equestrian specializing in showjumping who helped lead Team Netherlands to gold at the 2014 FEI World Equestrian Games. He previously won silver in the team jumping event at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
He began riding horses at age 6. He was a highly successful junior rider, winning numerous competitions before moving on to senior competitions in 2010.
He has won several competitions with the horse VDL Groep Verdi, including the LGCT Madrid Grand Prix and Dutch Championships.
He married a woman named Rachelle. The couple's first child, a daughter named Liza, was born in December 2017. He is the son of equestrian Eric van der Vleute.
Like Anky Van Grunsven, he is an Olympic medal-winning Dutch equestrian.
