Lubomir Kavalek
Chess Player
Czech-American chess player who won national championships in both countries.
He studied communication and journalism at Charles University before winning the championship of Czechoslovakia in 1962 and 1968.
He was awarded both the International Master and International Grandmaster titles by FIDE in 1965 and he was inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame in 2001.
He was born and raised in Czechoslovakia.
He is an example to future Czech players such as David Navara.
