Lola Ridge

Feminist, anarchist poet and editor known for such poetry collections as The Ghetto (published in 1918) and Sun-Up (published in 1920). Her later works include Firehead and Dance of Fire.
She was born in Dublin, Ireland, and she grew up in Australia and New Zealand. She moved to San Francisco, California in 1907.
She won the Shelley Memorial Award in 1936, not long after she published Red Flag, a highly political poetry collection.
She married David Laws in 1919.
She and fellow poet Arthur Chapman were both born in 1873.
