Lodewijk Asscher
Politician
Politician who has gained fame for his career in Dutch politics, including as the Leader of the Labour Party beginning in 2016. He later became the Parliamentary leader of the Labour Party as a House of Representatives member in 2017.
He earned his BA in psychology in 1995 from the University of Amsterdam. He would later gain his master's in law from the university in 1998.
He served as acting-Mayor of Amsterdam between March and July 2010. He later assumed the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands in 2012, and served in this capacity until 2017.
He shares three sons with his wife Jildau.
He served along then-Prime Minister Mark Rutte as Deputy Prime Minister between 2012-2017.
