Robert Bacon

Massachusetts-born diplomat who served as United States Secretary of State for five months in 1909. He had previously served as Assistant Secretary of State (from 1905 to 1909).
He graduated from Harvard University and entered the business world, working for J.P Morgan from 1894 to 1903.
After serving as Secretary of State, he became the United States Ambassador to France.
He married Martha Waldron Cowdin in 1883; they had four children together.
He served under the presidential administration of his Harvard University friend, Theodore Roosevelt.
