R&B singer who won a Grammy for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for her 1991 single "How Can I Ease the Pain." She has also worked as a backup singer for some of the world's biggest artists, including Tina Turner and The Rolling Stones.
She grew up in New York City and got her start performing under the stage name Xena in the early 80's.
She was featured prominently in the Academy Award-winning 2013 backup singer documentary 20 Feet From Stardom.
She has two younger brothers.
She has often performed live duets with Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger.
