Larry McMurtry
Screenwriter
An American fiction writer and screenwriter known for his Texas and Old West settings, he is most their for his 1985 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Lonesome Dove. He also wrote Terms of Endearment, a 1975 novel that was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film.
He received his B.A. from the University of North Texas and his M.A. from Rice University. He published his first novel, Horseman, Pass By, in 1961.
He received the Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award.
He was raised on a ranch near Archer City, Texas. In 2011, he married Norma Faye Kesey.
His wife, Norma Faye Kesey, was once married to counterculture author Ken Kesey.
