In 2008, he was originally was drafted as a second baseman.
His father and DC native Jerome admitted to being sad when his son was traded from the nearby Orioles to the farther away Houston Astros in 2013.
He played alongside five-time All-Star slugger Jim Thome in Thome's final season.
