He began his professional career playing for the Astros' rookie affiliate team the Greeneville Astros.
He made his major league debut playing against the Oakland Athletics on April 8, 2015 as a member of the Texas Rangers.
He is the son of former major league baseball player Delino Deshields.
He was once packaged in a trade that included Corey Kluber.
