Kieren Perkins
Swimmer
Long distance swimmer who won gold medals for the 1500 meter freestyle at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, as well as a silver medal at the 2000 Olympics.
He went to school at Indooroopilly State Primary School and Brisbane Boys' College, and began swimming seriously at age eight.
He is considered a legend in Australia, as he has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia, been inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame, and became an Australian Living Treasure.
He was married to Symantha Perkins from 1997 to 2012, and had three children with her.
He was part of an Australian Olympic swimming team in 2000 that included Ian Thorpe.
