Known for his career as a running back for the Alabama Crimson Tide college football team. As a student-athlete there, he won two national championships, with the first coming in 2013 and the second in 2016.
He attended Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia. As a senior, he won the Gatorade National Player of the Year award for the state of Georgia.
He returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown in the 2016 College Football National Championship game against the Clemson Tigers. He declared himself eligible for the 2016 NFL Draft following his senior season.
He was born in Carrollton, Georgia.
He spent his 2015 senior season as the back-up to running back Derrick Henry, who won that year's Heisman Trophy.
