Drummer, vocalist and songwriter for The Doobie Brothers who would also co-found a group called Southern Pacific alongside fellow Doobie Brother John McFee.

Before Fame

He first began drumming while a student at Princeton High School. He played in a club band and with a group called Blind Joe Mendlebaum Blues Band before becoming the drummer for organist/vocalist Lee Michaels.

Trivia

He organized a one-off Doobie Brother reunion in 1987 to raise funds for the National Veterans Foundation. He rejoined the group full-time in 1993 and would play the drums alongside the man he replaced years ago, Michael Hossack.

Family Life

He died of pneumonia in Kentfield, California. He was married to a woman named Kate, and had a daughter, Dayna.
